Life in the meat game started young for company founder Ron Layfield, at age 15 he would begin a part time job at the Daylesford meatworks, owned by a legendary hard man of the industry, Jim McNamara. Jim could see potential in the lad and decided to take him under his wing for a hard year of mentoring, before making Ron manager of the meatworks at only 17 years of age.

A lot of water has since passed under the bridge and now with his son Matt, who since he could walk he was helping around the meatworks, as well as starting his butchery apprenticeship at age 16 in the family owned retail shop located in Daylesford before moving to join the wholesale team, he will ensure that every butcher can put a face to the name, taking every chance to visit customers regularly to keep a finger on the pulse of what is important to you.

Sales manager Joe Beaumont, is from a long family line of butchers, and has a wealth of knowledge in the industry having worked across many aspects from the glory days in the Queen Victoria market to managing boning rooms and owning his own retail butcheries , with him is Paul Cook, who has been a sales manager for large companies such as Auspork, before joining our team a few years ago. He has a deep knowledge of Melbourne’s meat industry and prides himself of being dedicated to his customers needs.
